The North Shore of Oahu is world famous for the big waves winter brings to surf spots like Pipeline and Waimea. Many tourists venture over to check out the surfers in action as a day trip. While the surfers are certainly fun to watch as they ride the huge swells, there is way too much to see and do on this amazingly beautiful side of the island to limit it to a day trip.
There are many sides to Waikiki, Hawaii's biggest city and many ways to spend a day. Of course, you can relax pool side drinking blended drinks, play in the surf or shop the many ultra high end stores in town. Or you can seek out another side to this cosmopolitan Hawaiian locale; one that includes hiking in a bamboo rainforest, finding some of the best city views by bike and ending the day with a catamaran sail.
A trip to Oahu isn't quite complete without tasting a perfect Mai Tai. Nor is it complete without a chance to see hula dancers and experience the beautiful music of the island. You can spend lots of money on one of the many luaus offered on the island or head to the Royal Hawaiian Center for one of their free shows.
